Description
Palace on the Island is a jewel of Neoclassical architecture in the heart of the Royal Baths. Originally a baroque bathhouse, it was transformed into a summer residence in the 18th century by King Stanislaw August Poniatowski.
Today it is a unique museum displaying a collection of 140 works of art, including paintings by Rembrandt and other masters. The interiors impress with a wealth of ornamentation - the marble Rotunda, the Hall of Solomon with a series of paintings by Bacciarelli or the Hall of Bacchus with Dutch tiles are just some of the attractions.
Surrounded by picturesque ponds and connected to the park by Ionic colonnades of bridges, it is an ideal place for lovers of art, history and architecture.
