Description

The Nationalmuseum in Stockholm is Sweden's premier fine arts gallery, founded in 1792.

The museum has an impressive collection of more than 700,000 pieces, including paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and jewelry from the late Middle Ages to the early 20th century.

Worth seeing is the elegant Sculpture Courtyard with biblical and mythological marbles and works by masters such as Rembrandt, Renoir, Rubens and Cézanne. The building, designed in the Northern Italian Renaissance style, is a work of art in itself with an impressive central staircase.
