Description
Museo Ixchel del Traje Indígena is a fascinating museum dedicated to the indigenous textiles and costumes of Guatemala.
Here you will find an impressive collection of more than 8,000 artifacts from 181 communities, including hand-woven textiles, ceremonial costumes and jewelry dating from the late 19th century to the present.
The museum building is a work of art in itself - its facade resembles a textile pattern. In addition to the textiles, you can admire oil paintings by Andrés Curruchich and watercolors by Carmen L. Pettersen showing the variety of costumes of the Mayan community.
