Description
The International Maritime Museum is a fascinating journey through 3,000 years of nautical history. Spread over nine themed decks, the museum showcases more than 40,000 exhibits, including unique ship models, construction plans and maritime artwork.
Among the most interesting exhibits are a 3,000-year old fishing boat, the staff of Großadmiral Karl Dönitz and a replica of the James Caird lifeboat used by Sir Ernest Shackleton during the Imperial Transantarctic Expedition.
The maritime art collection includes more than 1,000 paintings and 5,000 graphic works, including seascapes by Ivan Aivazovsky.
