Description
Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture is Turkey's first fine arts institution, founded in 1937 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The museum has an impressive collection of more than 12,000 works of art, including paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, icons and sculptures, presenting the history of Turkish art from the late 19th to 20th centuries.
The building's unique architecture, with mosaic tiles and red panels, provides the perfect backdrop for 34 thematic rooms that tell the fascinating story of the development of art in Turkey.
