Description
Olesko Castle is one of the oldest and historically most important castles in Ukraine, dating back to the 15th century. It is the birthplace of two Polish kings, Jan III Sobieski and Michal Korybut Wisniowiecki.
The castle impresses with its Italian Renaissance style, and its strategic location on a hill, surrounded by a moat and wall, with a dense swamp adding an extra layer of defense, makes it a unique historical site.
The interiors hide art treasures of the 16th and 17th centuries - paintings, mosaics, sculptures and tapestries. As part of the 'Golden Horseshoe' along with the castles in Podhorce and Zloczow, it is a unique attraction for history and art lovers.
