Description
The Norwegian Folk Museum is a fascinating open-air museum located on the Bygdøy peninsula in Oslo. Covering an area of more than 140,000 square meters, it brings together 155 historical buildings from various regions of Norway, mostly from the 17th to 19th centuries.
Among the unique exhibits are a 13th-century Gol pillar church, a 14th-century homestead from Rauland and a 19th-century Oslo townhouse. A former town with houses, stores and workshops has also been recreated here.
Staff members in period costumes demonstrate traditional crafts and activities, making Norwegian history come alive before the eyes of visitors.
