Description
The Zagreb Archaeological Museum is a fascinating treasure trove of history housed in a historic building that was once a 14th-century fortress, a Carmelite monastery and even an Austrian prison.
The collection of more than 500,000 archaeological artifacts includes finds from the Paleolithic to modern times. Two permanent exhibitions showcase prehistoric and medieval objects, as well as antiquities from Egypt, including a famous mummy.
The museum surrounds a beautiful garden with picturesque views, which is an additional attraction of the site. Descriptions of the exhibits are available in several languages, making this place accessible to international visitors.
