Description
The Museum of Archaeology D. Diogo de Sousa is a fascinating journey through the centuries of history of northern Portugal.
The extensive collection includes exhibits from the Paleolithic to the Middle Ages, with a special focus on Roman finds from the time of Bracara Augusta. Four spacious exhibition sections present material evidence of human presence and cultural development in the region.
Named after Archbishop Diogo de Sousa, who was instrumental in the development of the city of Braga in the 16th century, the museum offers not only permanent and temporary exhibitions, but also a library, café and garden where visitors can relax after exploring.
