Description
Spirit of Soho Mural is a unique piece of street art, created in 1991 by Gillian da Costa as a Soho community project. This colorful mural depicts a female figure whose skirt includes a map of the Soho neighborhood with its most important sites and historical figures.
The mural tells the fascinating story of Soho's transformation from a royal hunting ground to a center of culture and creativity. Among the figures depicted are Karl Marx, William Blake and Dylan Thomas.
The most interesting element is the interactive clock that strikes the full hours, accompanied by subtle animations - Theresa Cornelys winks at Casanova and Karl Marx sips Coca-Cola.
