Description
Muinkpark is a charming corner in the heart of Ghent, designed in a 19th-century English landscape style.
It is the only remnant of Ghent's former zoo, which was once home to lions, pumas, parrots and elephants! The names of surrounding streets like Zebrastraat and Olifantstraat still allude to this fascinating history.
The park delights with its winding paths, manicured lawns and ponds that attract various species of birds. You'll also find a unique '3x caged' sculpture by Jo Van Ryckegem, referring to the site's zoological past.
Perfect for a family picnic, a leisurely stroll or a morning jog!
