Description

Monumento Natural del Roque Nublo is an impressive rock formation in the heart of Gran Canaria, rising 1,813 meters above sea level. This 80-meter-high monolith was a place of worship for the island's indigenous Guanche people.

The trail leading to the rock offers breathtaking views of the volcanic caldera and the Atlantic Ocean, and in good weather you can even see Tenerife. There are fascinating rock formations with funny shapes, such as El Fraile (The Monk) and La Rana (The Frog).

The area is part of a UNESCO site and is a must-see on any Gran Canaria tour.

avatarAlice Geurtsen4 months agoAmazing views, we followed a Komoot hike of 5km which leads around Roque Nublo and then up. Views were stunning. Do recommend to go on a clear day for nice views, and wear hiking boots as some parts of the route can be slippery. Practical: you need to make a reservation for a one hour time slot upfront via https://reservasroquenublo.com/. Besides, there are 2 designated parking areas, one in Tejeda and one called Aparcamiento Cruz de los Llanos. The latter is only 5km away and comes with a shuttle service (€1.40 pp, one-way, free parking) which takes you to Roque Nublo in under 10 minutes. Do note that the bus schedule is very irregular and there are sometimes 1.5 hour gaps in between rides (in which case you could always walk back along the road). There is a stall with fruits, ice-cream and drinks at the starting point as well as Dixi toilets.
avatarLucca T.a year agoBeautiful landscapes, kilometers of trails, lots of routes, most of which are easy. I definitely recommend going here and finding a place to contact nature in silence and solitude, surrounded by these beautiful images of the island.
avatarJake Garbelotti6 months agoAs of today Feb 3 you can no longer park at the trailhead and you need a reservation to hike the trail. You park as Los Llanos 10 mins away - the problem is the shuttle bus never comes! I waited one hour :(
