Description
Monument to the Unknown Woman Worker is a unique bronze sculpture created in 1992 by Louise Walsh, paying tribute to women's labor.
The work depicts two working-class women whose bodies contain symbols of female labor - shopping baskets, laundry clips, hairbrushes, hangers, scissors, a typewriter and a telephone.
This feminist sculpture commemorates the economy of women, celebrating their often undervalued roles in society - from unpaid mothers to low-paid hairdressers to seamstresses and secretaries. It is a fascinating part of Belfast's cultural landscape.
