Description

Monkey World is a unique primate sanctuary spanning 65 acres where more than 250 monkeys have found a safe home after being rescued from illegal trafficking, laboratories and violent situations.

Established in 1987, the site continues its mission to rescue and rehabilitate primates from around the world. Here you'll see chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons and other species in spacious enclosures that mimic their natural habitat.

For children, there is the largest playground in southern England and interactive exhibits. It's not only entertaining, but also educational about the dangers of primates in the wild and captivity.

avatarCoralie Pattendena week agoThis brought back such wonderful memories of visiting here with my grandparents when I was small. There are so many different monkeys across a pretty large park. There were lots of children around and they all seemed to be enjoying it, just as I did when I was young. I definitely recommend coming to monkey world for a fun filled day out.
avatarSpencer Spencer (Spencer)2 weeks agoAbsolutely beautiful place. Relaxing to walk around, but more importantly the primates are all extremely well looked after. They have a natural environment to live in with well nutritioned diets. This is a rescue centre which made the journey even more worth it, very sad to read some the the previous situations but heart warming to see the end results. The park only takes cash, so do not just take money or you will struggle. We travelled 3 and a half hours to get to Monkey World amd would happily do it again. We spent about £60 in the gift shop afterwards, it was well kept and had massive variety to choose from. All in all, 10/10 🐒🦍🦧🌳
avatarZombified Hopelessness2 months agoOur recent visit to Monkey World was highly enjoyable. We were particularly impressed by the spacious and well-maintained habitats, especially the extensive enclosures for the chimpanzees, orangutans, and woolly monkeys, which allowed for excellent observation of their daily activities. We did observe that the reflective glass used in some habitats presented a challenge to visibility, particularly on bright, sunny days when the exterior light significantly overpowered the interior. This glare effectively turned the glass into a mirror, hindering our ability to view the animals. While we understand and appreciate that the animals' well-being is the primary concern, and this issue does not impact their care, it does affect the visitor experience. We respectfully suggest exploring potential solutions to mitigate this glare, such as the application of anti-glare film or a matte clear coating to the visitor-facing side of the glass. Recognizing Monkey World's status as an ape rescue center with potentially limited resources, we understand that animal welfare takes precedence. We hope that this feedback may prompt consideration of cost-effective solutions, and perhaps inspire a partnership or donation from a company specializing in anti-glare technologies to enhance the visitor experience without compromising the center's mission.
