Description

The Sanctuary of Saint Hedwig of Silesia is one of the oldest and most important religious monuments in Lower Silesia.

Founded in 1203 by Duke Henry the Bearded and his wife, Saint Hedwig of Silesia, the site combines late Romanesque style with Baroque additions dating back to 1741.

The basilica conceals Michael Willmann's remarkable paintings depicting scenes from the life of St. Hedwig and the tombs of the saint and her husband.

This unique pilgrimage site, which has attracted monarchs and their spouses over the centuries, offers a peaceful space for reflection and prayer.
