Description
The Midway Geyser Basin Trailhead is the starting point for one of the most spectacular places in Yellowstone National Park. A short, 0.8-mile boardwalk leads through a compact thermal area dominated by Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the park with a diameter of up to 112 meters and a depth of over 37 meters, dazzling with rainbow colors from blue in the center to red at the edges. Excelsior Geyser Crater releases over 15,000 liters of boiling water per minute, creating waterfalls that flow into the Firehole River.
