Description
Memorial to Europe's Sinti and Roma Murdered Under Nazism is a unique memorial to the genocide of Sinti and Roma during the Nazi era.
Designed by Israeli artist Dani Karavan, it consists of a round, dark pool of water with a triangular stone in the center. A fresh flower is placed on it daily, symbolizing the lives lost.
The edge of the pool is engraved with the poem 'Auschwitz' by Roma poet Santino Spinelli. Surrounding the memorial are information boards depicting the chronology of the genocide, and the whole is accompanied by a permanent sound installation called 'Mare Manuschenge'.
