McArt's Fort

McArt's Fort is a fascinating historical monument located on the highest rocky protrusion of Cave Hill. Dating back to about 2,700 years ago, this ancient fort offers breathtaking panoramic views of Belfast Lough and the surrounding countryside.

Also known as 'Napoleon's Nose' due to its resemblance to the French emperor's profile, the fort is an excellent destination for history and nature lovers. There are also artificial caves nearby, which likely served as food storage and temporary shelters.
