Mata Jardim José do Canto is an enchanting botanical garden founded in the 19th century by José do Canto, a botanical and horticultural enthusiast.

More than 6,000 plant species from around the world await visitors, including centuries-old camellias, sequoias and endemic species. Walking along the 2-kilometer Salto do Rosal trail, you'll reach a crystal-clear waterfall surrounded by lush greenery.

Don't miss the neo-Gothic chapel of Nossa Senhora das Vitórias and Vale dos Fetos, a valley of ferns with a 'Jurassic' character. Admission: €4 (cash only).
