Description
Loarre Castle is an impressive Romanesque fortress dating back to the 11th century, considered the most important structure of its kind in Spain. Built on the remains of a Roman fortress, it impresses with its irregular plan, double walls and cylindrical towers.
Inside, you can admire the 12th-century church of Santa María, with three naves and a barrel vault and capitals with Roman iconography. Especially noteworthy are the Torre del Homenaje (Tower of Homage) and the Torre de la Reina (Tower of the Queen).
Located at 1,070 meters above sea level, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding plains of Aragon.
