Description
Devín Castle is a majestic ruin towering over the junction of the Danube and Morava rivers. Perched on a 212-meter-high cliff, this medieval monument offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
The most photographed feature of the castle is the legendary Tower of the Virgins, with tales of beautiful virgins leaping into the abyss. The castle has a rich history dating back to the 5th century BC, having witnessed the activities of Cyril and Methodius, who created the first Slavic alphabet here in 863.
Visitors can tour the Middle and Upper Castle with exhibitions showing the architectural development of the site from the 11th to the 19th century.
