Description
Saint Stanislas Square is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, a masterpiece of French classicism of the 18th century.
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it impresses with its harmonious arrangement of buildings, including the City Hall, the Opera House and the Museum of Fine Arts.
Decorated with gilded wrought-iron gates by Jean Lamour and fountains by Barthélémy Guibal, it has earned Nancy the nickname 'City of Golden Gates'. In the center stands a monument to Stanislas Leszczynski, former King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine.
