Description
National Heroes Park is a 20-hectare botanical garden and Jamaica's national pantheon, where national heroes such as Marcus Garvey and Louise Bennett-Coverley are laid to rest. The former racecourse, dating back to 1783, has been transformed into a place steeped in history, from celebrations of the abolition of slavery to Bob Marley's legendary concert. Strolling along the paths, you will discover the Nanny of the Maroons monument with its symbolic abeng horn, a cenotaph with a 1.5-ton cross, and Heroes Circle with statues of historical figures.
