Description
The Budapest Chain Bridge is the oldest fixed bridge connecting Buda and Pest across the Danube River. Built between 1839 and 1849, it is a symbol of unity and modernity for Hungarians.
Its impressive 380-meter-long structure is supported by two main pillars reaching 48 meters below the water level. A distinctive feature are the four stone lions at the entrances, designed by János Marschalkó in 1852.
The bridge offers a picturesque view of the Hungarian Parliament and the Royal Castle. It is an ideal place for a stroll and photos while exploring the city.
