Description
Kapellbrücke is one of the oldest wooden covered bridges in Europe, located in the heart of Lucerne. Dating back to 1365, this unique monument connects the Old City with the New City, crossing the Reuss River diagonally.
Inside the bridge you'll find fascinating 17th century paintings depicting scenes from the history of Switzerland and Lucerne. The distinctive octagonal Water Tower, which was once a prison and torture chamber, is an integral part of the complex.
As you walk across the bridge, you'll feel the touch of history underfoot while enjoying picturesque views of the river and the surrounding Alps.
