Description
The St. Mary's Basilica is one of the most recognizable symbols of Krakow, a stunning example of Polish Gothic from the 14th century.
Inside hides a true treasure - a wooden altarpiece by Wit Stwosz, considered one of the finest works of Gothic sculpture in Europe.
Every hour the famous bugle call is sounded from the basilica's higher tower, which breaks off in half notes in memory of the legendary trumpeter who died during the Mongol invasion. Asymmetrical towers, dark stone, starry vaults and medieval stained glass windows create the unique atmosphere of this special place.
