Description
The Sigismund III Vasa Column is one of the most recognizable symbols of Warsaw, erected in 1644.
This 22-meter-tall monument, topped by a statue of the king holding a cross and a sword, commemorates the ruler who moved Poland's capital from Krakow to Warsaw.
It is the first secular monument in the form of a column in modern history. Destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in 1949, it symbolizes the steadfastness of Varsovians.
It is a popular meeting place for tourists and locals alike, offering the perfect backdrop for commemorative photos, especially during the golden hour.
