Corporación Teatro Ateneo Porfirio Barba Jacob is a unique theater that has been operating since 1994 in the basement of Torres de Bomboná in the historic district of La Candelaria.
The theater specializes in thought-provoking performances that address social and urban issues. Since 2002, it has organized the annual Festival Colombiano de Teatro Ciudad de Medellín, attracting artists from around the world.
The resident group, Laboratorio Escénico Ateneo, creates award-winning productions presented at international festivals in Chile, Puerto Rico, and throughout Colombia.
