Description
King George III & His Horse Statue is a monumental horse statue also known as the 'Copper Horse'. This impressive 26-foot bronze sculpture, created by Richard Westmacott in 1831, depicts King George III riding without stirrups, in the fashion of Roman emperors.
The statue is located at the end of the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. It was commissioned by King George IV to commemorate his father and bears the ironic Latin inscription 'To the Best of Fathers,' highlighting the complicated relationship between the two.
It is an ideal destination for lovers of history, art and nature.
