Description

Kinbane Castle is a picturesque castle ruin located on a narrow limestone promontory jutting into the ocean. Built in 1547 by Colla MacDonnell, the castle has a rich history filled with sieges and battles.

The site offers breathtaking views of Rathlin Island and the surrounding cliffs. Beneath the castle is a small cave known as the 'Hollow of the English,' where, according to legend, English soldiers were imprisoned and killed during the siege.

You have to climb 140 steep steps to reach the castle, which can be a challenge, but the reward is a magical experience at a lesser-known but fascinating historical site.
