Description
The Wells Cathedral is the first English church built entirely in the Gothic style. It marvels at its unique 'scissor arches,' which, though modern-looking, originated in the 14th century as an ingenious design solution.
Note the Jesse Window, one of the finest examples of 14th-century stained glass in Europe, which even survived the English Civil War.
The western facade, decorated with more than 300 original medieval carvings, creates an amazing stone setting, and the geometric patterns of the ceiling in the Chapter House will delight any architecture lover.
