Description
The Uppsala Cathedral is the tallest church in the Nordic countries, reaching an impressive 118.7 meters. This Gothic gem, built since 1270, impresses with its French architectural style with characteristic sharp arches and rich ornamentation.
Inside are the relics of St. Eric, the patron saint of Sweden, and the tombs of many Swedish monarchs, including Gustav Vasa. The Vasa Chapel, decorated with the oldest known Swedish and Finnish coats of arms, is a veritable feast for history buffs.
Medieval frescoes, stained glass windows and organ concerts complete the aesthetic experience at this unique site.
