Description
St Andrews Cathedral is the impressive ruins of Scotland's largest cathedral, dating back to 1158. Built for pilgrims coming to see the relics of St. Andrews, it combines Romanesque and Gothic styles.
The tower of St. Rule offers a panoramic view of all of St Andrews. According to legend, the ghost of the 'White Lady' in a long gown with a veil over her face walks through the cathedral grounds.
The museum in the cathedral grounds displays a unique collection of medieval sculptures and relics, including the famous Sarcophagus of St. Andrews. It is a real treat for lovers of history, architecture and sacred art.
