Description
The Burgos Cathedral is a jewel of Gothic architecture and the first Gothic church in Spain. Its construction began in 1221 and was completed in 1567, capturing the evolution of the Gothic style over the centuries.
Its impressive 84-meter tower, Gothic-Plateresque dome and intricate decorations have earned the building a UNESCO listing.
The cathedral holds the remains of the legendary El Cid and his wife Jimena, which adds further historical significance to the site. Art lovers will marvel at the beautiful stained glass windows, sculptures and rich interior design that tell the story of medieval Spain.
