Description
St. Paul's Cathedral in Münster is an impressive architectural monument, combining Romanesque and Gothic styles. Built between 1225 and 1264, it impresses with its majestic appearance and rich history.
Among the cathedral's unique features are the famous astronomical clock in the pulpit and the beautiful west portal rebuilt in the late Gothic style around 1516. Of note are the three Von Galenschen chapels, added to the ambit in 1663.
The cathedral is the resting place of Bishop Clemens August Graf von Galen, beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005. The cathedral's tower offers a beautiful panorama of Münster.
