Description
St. George's Cathedral is a UNESCO-listed Baroque gem of Lviv. This majestic temple impresses with its rich decorations and expressive sculptures by Jan Jerzy Pinsel, including the famous statue of St. George fighting a dragon.
The interior of the cathedral captivates with its Byzantine layout with a central dome supported by four massive pillars and a beautiful iconostasis with paintings by J. Radywylowski and L. Dolinski.
Built between 1744 and 1760, the cathedral is a unique combination of Western influences with the traditions of Ukrainian church building. It is not only a place of religious worship, but also a testament to Ukraine's rich history and culture.
