Description
St. Graz Cathedral is an impressive Gothic temple built between 1438 and 1462 by Emperor Frederick III.
It combines Gothic and Baroque elements, the result of a reconstruction by the Jesuits between 1577 and 1773, and has served as the seat of the bishop of the diocese of Graz-Seckau since 1786.
The interior of the cathedral impresses with intricate stone carvings and beautiful stained glass windows. The exterior facade with its distinctive tower is one of the city's most recognizable symbols and an important point on the map of Graz's UNESCO-listed cultural heritage.
