Description
The Christ Church Cathedral in Lisburn is a majestic monument with a rich history dating back to 1600. This impressive building was rebuilt twice - after the destruction of 1641 and after a fire in 1707.
The current 1719 structure impresses with its neo-Gothic architecture and distinctive octagonal tower added in 1804, which rises to a height of about 55 meters.
It is interesting to note that in 1914 the cathedral was bombed by suffragettes, leading to the destruction of one of the oldest stained glass windows.
