Jardim do Torel

Jardim do Torel is a hidden gem located on one of Lisbon's seven hills. This charming garden, once part of a 19th-century palace, offers breathtaking views of the city center and the Tagus River.

Divided into two levels - an upper level shaded by trees and a lower level with a terrace and café - it is an ideal place to relax. A special attraction is the 18th-century fountain with a mermaid, which turns into a swimming pool in the summer, attracting both children and adults.

The easiest way to get here is by Lisbon's oldest funikular, Ascensor do Lavra, inaugurated in 1884.
