Description

The Museum and Crypt of the Capuchins is a unique combination of art, history, and spiritual reflection on the transience of life. In the basement of the 17th-century church, there are six chambers in which the remains of about 4,000 monks have been arranged in elaborate patterns—rosettes, stars, hourglasses, and crosses.

In the museum section, you can admire Renaissance and Baroque works, including a painting attributed to Caravaggio. The crypt delights with its symbolism - from the Chamber of Skulls to the Crypt of the Resurrection, where bones form a frame for a painting of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.
