Description
Museo del teatro romano is a fascinating museum in the heart of Lecce that takes you back to the days of ancient Rome.
Located in a 17th century palazzo, it displays artifacts from the excavation of the adjacent Roman theater, discovered in 1929. The exhibit includes a reconstruction of Roman Lupiae (today's Lecce) and exhibits recreating classical Roman life.
Of particular interest are the theatrical masks from the Villa and the exhibition 'Rome, the stage of life', showing theatrical productions of ancient Rome, including comedies and tragedies, which were an important part of political and religious celebrations.
