Abbazia di Santa Maria di Cerrate is a former Byzantine Orthodox monastery that impresses with its rich history and unique architecture.

The abbey's interior is decorated with precious frescoes depicting, among other things, the Assumption of Mary and a mysterious scene with St. George fighting a dragon.

The site combines the sacred with the tradition of oil production - under the abbey there is a crypt with a preserved olive press.

Walking through the courtyard and cloisters, you can admire the capitals with a variety of motifs and relax surrounded by aromatic herbs in the garden.
