Description
Monasterio de San Jerónimo de Yuste is a 15th-century Hieronymite monastery where Emperor Charles V spent the last years of his life after his abdication in 1556.
A stunning blend of Gothic and Renaissance styles, it features a church with starry vaults, two cloisters, and the emperor's austere palace with a bedroom window facing directly onto the temple. Surrounded by 14 hectares of almond groves and mountains, the site has been awarded the European Heritage Label.
