Description
Lublin Castle is a fascinating monument with a rich history dating back to the 12th century. Initially a wooden fortification, later a royal residence, and in the 19th century a prison - each era has left its mark here.
It's worth seeing the unique Ruthenian-Byzantine frescoes in the Holy Trinity Chapel from 1418, which impress international experts. The castle tower offers a panoramic view of Lublin.
The castle hides a dark prison history - more than 40,000 people, including members of the Polish resistance and Jews, were held here during World War II.
