Description
Woodhenge is a fascinating Neolithic monument that is a lesser-known counterpart to the famous Stonehenge. This prehistoric monument consists of six concentric ovals where wooden pillars once stood, now marked with concrete markers.
Built around 2300 BC, it was probably a site for religious ceremonies and astronomical observations, especially of the summer solstice.
Discovered only in 1925 thanks to aerial photography, it offers unique insights into the beliefs and practices of ancient communities. The finding of a child buried on the site adds an extra mystical dimension to the site.
