Description
West Kennet Long Barrow is one of the oldest and most impressive Neolithic tombs in Britain, built around 3650 BC.
This remarkable 100-meter-long structure conceals five burial chambers, where the remains of nearly 50 people and everyday objects have been found.
Construction of the tomb required more than 15,000 hours of labor, a testament to the advanced engineering skills of people of the Neolithic era. Entering the burial chambers allows you to take a fascinating trip back in time and experience history for yourself.

Amanda Dearlove5 months agoWhat an amazing place to visit. We parked in the National Trust carpark for Avebury and walked over to the Long Barrow. Get there early as the car park was packed by the time we got back, with cars waiting for spaces.
It’s a really interesting site with amazing views over the countryside.
Dog friendly which is a bonus.

Martin Jones6 months agoNice place for a visit, walking distance a little restricted as barrow in on private land so generally access only. You do have Silbury hill opposite side of the road worth a wander around there too. Small parking area on roadside can hold about 6 cars, more by Silbury hill. Worth a visit, you go inside barrow, but only first 20ft, the rest of the barrow is blocked off.Related categories
