Description

Torre Squillace is a fascinating 16th century defense tower, built between 1567 and 1570 by Pensino Tarantino.

This unique structure with a square base and a tronco-pyramid shape was part of the coastal defense system against pirate incursions. It communicated with Torre Cesarea to the north and Torre Sant'Isidoro to the south.

Inside, there is a well and a room with a vault equipped with a chimney. An exterior staircase, added in 1640, facilitates access to the tower.

It's a great place for history and photography enthusiasts, offering breathtaking views of the crystal clear waters of the Salento coast.
