Description
The Mourne Wall is an impressive 35-kilometer-long stone wall built between 1904 and 1922 in the Mourne Mountains of Northern Ireland. Erected from local granite, this unique structure runs over the 15 highest peaks of the range, including Slieve Donard (850 meters above sea level).
The wall originally served to protect the catchment area of the Silent Valley reservoir from pollution by livestock. Today it is a popular destination for hikers, offering spectacular views and a challenge known as the 'Mourne Wall Challenge'.
It is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of history, engineering and beautiful scenery.
