Description
The Ilica Skyscraper is the first real skyscraper in Zagreb and Yugoslavia, and is an important part of the city's historic landscape.
This 70-meter high structure with 16 floors, designed by a trio of architects: Slobodan Jovičić, Josip Hitil and Ivan Žuljević, was completed in 1958. It is distinguished by an aluminum facade that was innovative for the time.
It once offered a public observation deck, which reopened in 2013 as the 'Zagreb Eye' after closing in 2007. At the base of the skyscraper is a shopping arcade connecting Ilica, Gajeva, Bogovićeva and Petrićeva streets.
