Schlossplatz is a historic square in the heart of Dresden that impresses with its majestic character and rich history dating back to the 15th century.
Surrounded by impressive buildings such as the Dresden Castle (the former residence of the kings of Saxony), the Catholic Court Church and the Saxon State House, it is a true architectural gem.
On the square you can admire the restored King Albert Monument and the Frederick August Monument, moved here in 2008. It is a place that remembers many historical events, including the 1813 Battle of Dresden, where Napoleon Bonaparte assembled his troops.
